EARLY BOOKS
Picture story books often have large print so you can point to words such as ‘POP’, ‘BIG’ or ‘ZOOM’ so that children learn that the squiggles on the page represent spoken words.
After basic picture books, children often like books which begin to tell a story such as The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the Pip and Posy series. Also, there are books which follow TV series - Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam for example.
These are fairly classic books for this age:
- Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter
- Anansi Stories such as Anansi and the Golden Pot by Taiye Selasi
- Winnie the Pooh by A A Milne
